Office for National Statistics (ONS) survey data has indicated that over one in four (27.9%) of UK pub and bar operators have fears that their business would fail even before the latest coronavirus lockdown restrictions were announced.

Meanwhile, less than one in five (19.1%) of responding pub and bar businesses had high confidence in surviving the next three months.

In the run-up to Christmas, new data from leading insolvency firm, Begbies Traynor, has revealed the full impact of the Covid-19 crisis and tough trading conditions, which shows that 39,232 retailers, including both online and bricks and mortar stores, are now in significant financial distress.

This figure from Q4 2020 (1st October – 9th December) is an increase of 24 percent on the same period in 2019 and is up 11 percent on Q3 this year. The figures also show that over 20,000 high street retailers and over 11,500 online retailers are now in difficulty, a rise of 22 percent and 27 percent respectively since the run-up to Christmas 2019.

Ian Williamson & Chris Brindle appointed Joint Administrators of Floating Festivals Limited

On 20 August 2020 Floating Festivals Limited (‘the Company’) was placed into Administration. Richard Ian Williamson and Christopher Brindle of Campbell Crossley & Davis, Seneca House, Amy Johnson Way, Blackpool FY4 2FF were appointed as Joint Administrators.

Unfortunately, the Company was not ABTA bonded. Customers who have paid for cruises by credit or debit card should contact their card provider in the first instance to enquire as to their eligibility for a refund.
